This Week's Podcast Pick

Its time for the weekly podcast pick, (again). Here are the podcasts that have made it to my infamous list in no particular order:

MacBreak Weekly
Still at the top; simply put, MacBreak Weekly is the land of audio milk and honey. (and lately; lots and lots of rat holes which we all love anyway) - miss this netcast not!
Leo Laporte, Merlin Mann, Scott Bourne and Alex Lindsay
http://www.twit.tv/mbw

This Week In Tech
Its still around, its still kicking, its still great and its still on the MacTake Podcast Pick list!
Hosts: Leo Laporte, Patrick Norton, Kevin Rose, John C. Dvorak, Merlin Mann and other tech luminaries. Don't miss this netcast!
http://www.twit.tv/

Typical Mac User Podcast
Victor Cajiao is really quite a pro at not only doing live talkshoe podcasts, but hosting an entertaining and well informed podcast. Check this out especially if you're a new user or switcher, but often it still will be just as informative for veteran users as it is for switchers!
Host: Victor Cajiao

MacCast
Suprised? You shouldn't be. The MacCast makes the list once again, for simply being ear-drum candy. Informative, funny, well produced and in wonderful enhanced feed format, this comma-delimited list just won't end. Don't miss out on this great podcast. Also check out the listener forums for great tips and tricks at http://forum.maccast.com/
Host: Adam Christianson
http://www.maccast.com/

The Merlin Show
I blogged about this show's launch and as I initially expected, it did not disappoint. In glorious Hi-def or iPod format and filled with some of Mannkind's greatest video moments (or interviews), it's audio, video and to a debatable degree telepathic, candy. Don't miss out!
Host: Merlin Mann

MacCast Loop
A great roundtable discussion and community live talkshoe podcast, featuring hosts from the MacCast and the TMUP, this show has proven to its captive audience, that its something never to be missed. Catch it every sunday!
Host: Adam Christianson & Victor Cajiao
http://www.maccast.com/loop

Net@Nite
Still around, and still excellent so far as I can tell. I haven't actually had a chance to catch up with their very latest episode ('Code Monke Like Fritoes'), not all of it anyway. But they've been on my list before, and they've updated this week (or late last) and so qualify well to sit here again! I love the style of interviews, the great mix that Leo Laporte and Amber MacArthur are together and really just the atmosphere that this well informed show spills out. This is a netcast not to be missed!

The Merlin Show

Merlin Mann, father of www.43folders.com has just started a new video netcast called the Merlin Show at
http://www.themerlinshow.com.

By 'just', I do mean already 4 episodes through it. Fans of ThatPhoneGuy will be happy to hear that The Merlin Show is in iPod compatible format.

Merlin seems to be focusing on doing interviews with other visionaries, and as far as I can say, its working! I can thoroughly endorse and recommend this netcast, rank it on your best-of-podcasting list right up next to the MacCast and MacBreak Weekly.

MacCast Loop

Not quite yet time for my weekly podcast round-up, but I thought I'd tell you of a new podcast in the works.

TalkShoe External Link

Adam Christianson and Victor Cajiao have teamed up to do a live talkshoe podcast together. Now from past experience we know that Adam + Victor + podcast = great show, so I doubt that we'll be disappointed with the MacCast Loop.

Adam and Victor have done podcasts together quite a few times before, my favorite being the WWDC coverage they did back in 06, so its really great to see them podcasting together on a more regular and permanent basis.

So, heads up and check out:

That Phone Guy

That phone guy, that phone guy, that phone guy. You know what, that phone guy exists! I never knew it, had my eyes closed half the time i saw a link to it.

I just thought it was another, boring, video netcast right? You know, *whiny voice* ohoh, thatphoneguy, scknuf (thats a noise you make), meh. *end whiny voice*

But its not! Its, really, really, good, hosted by wallet-holding Merlin Mann. So, run on over and check it out before he threatens to take down his 100+ something domain names again.

New Podcasts

That's right people, it seems only yesterday I posted about some of my favorite podcasts that were Mac related. Well, here's an update of some more gems I stumbled across or just plain didn't get round to mentioning before.

VersusCOM Podcast ( http://www.versuscom.com )
I really should have mentioned this before, versusCOM is hosted by Alasdair Corbett and Sam Stafford, both of whom are actually colleagues of mine at Dunhenry Solutions. They've been running their podcast for quite a while now and boy, is it worth listening to. Covering most things tech but really focusing on the videogame front. Check out versusCOM.com ( Where there's no 2P!)

Net@Nite, a netcast from twit.tv ( http://www.twit.tv/ITN )
That's right, another netcast from twit.tv. Hosted by Amber MacArthur and Leo Laporte, this is recorded in front of a live audience and is, well, superbly done (like every other twit netcast). The most recent episode featured an interview with Jimmy Wales, creator and founder of Wikipedia. ( Which we all love ).

In fact, I think it'd make my life a little easier if i just said: Hey, you know what? All these great netcasts are on twit.tv, if its on there, listen to it, I recommend it, its great.

A quick note to all, in my last podcast recommendations post, I mistakenly referred to twit netcasts as, podcasts. Sorry about that Leo Laporte!

MacTake Rhymes With...

What is this? This, realization! ( Yes, I know I just posted. You can have two today.)

I have just realized why the name MacTake fits so nicely in my head. It rhymes with MacBreak or MacBreak Weekly, which are podcasts ( Sorry Leo, I mean, MacBreak is a Video Show), that I dearly dearly enjoy. Mind you, they both rhyme with each other too.

So half this post being an apology for my squandered blog name, the rest of it shall be devoted to:

PODCASTS, and (TV SHOWS), I LOVE.. In no particular order.

The MacCast. ( http://www.maccast.com/ )

Okay, we'd have to start with Adam Christianson over at the MacCast, which I have to say is outstanding. Everything from the work put into making both enhanced and normal feeds, to his informative and balanced views on all things Mac, puts his podcast somewhere on the Life-Is-Too-Short-To-Miss-Even-One-Episode column.

This Week In Tech (tWiT) ( http://www.twit.tv/ )

The tWiT podcast, featuring Leo Laporte, Patrick Norton, Kevin Rose etc.
( Ahem, I just realised. Yes John C. Dvorak, I referred to you as 'etc')

I'm kidding really. Featuring:
Join Leo Laporte, Patrick Norton, Kevin Rose, John C. Dvorak, Merlin Mann (Lately a lot more than.. before lately)
All of these people which I have a very, manly and non-anythingelse, love for. Thats right.
This podcast is brilliantly produced, and the balance of views expressed... yada yada yada ( It's really, really, good)

MacBreak ( http://www.twit.tv/MB )
Oh I do feel an insatiable desire to see more and more of this video show. Oh I do indeed. What ho! Its brilliant, and, well words will not do it justice. Featuring Leo Laporte, Merlin Mann, and oh-so-many other interesting people, do not, I repeat, do NOT miss out on this. Ever!

MacBreak Weekly ( http://www.twit.tv/mbw )

Featuring John Foster, Merlin Mann, Scot Bourne, and Alex Lindsay. Another do-not-miss. In fact, if i've listed a blog or podcast or tv show on this post, its because I really do honestly think that one should subscribe to it. This is an audio only complement to the video macbreak, and is (thankfully) updated a little more regularly.

Typical Mac User Podcast ( http://www.typicalmacuser.com/ )

Hosted by Victor Cajiao, ( a name I always have difficulty both pronouncing and spelling ), this Podcast is simply, excellent. Victor doesn't always get as much mention as the good people at tWiT or the MacCast, but that makes him none the lesser 'caster. In fact, I always get a little excited whenever he realeases a new episode. Victor also does a podcast called Immigration Tales, which is really, (and i mean really) interesting.

Finally, the MacRoundTable Podcast ( http://www.macroundtable.com )
Hosted by Adam Christianson, Steve Stanger, Tim Verpooten, Joseph Nilo. This another no-miss podcast, especially, when its updated!

Final note, if i haven't mentioned a podcast thats mac, thats good, its probably because I haven't had time to look at it, so update me if you know something out there that i'm missing!
